Anchored Soul Care
My life was reoriented when I took an extended season of learning to care for my own soul and pursue intimacy with Christ. I had lived my life always trying to do what was “right.” During this journey, I slowly began to realize God values me as His beloved daughter based on our relationship, not on what I am doing for Him. I learned to play, hike, and color with God in addition to serving with God.
As my understanding of who I am has shifted from living “for” Jesus to living “with” Jesus. I have experienced great freedom to live out my unique calling. Today, I am passionate about companioning others as they encounter the steadfast love of Christ and respond to His personal invitations. My journey required me to get “out of my head” and explore unique ways of experiencing God’s presence. I am now inspired to offer creative spiritual spaces for others to encounter Jesus. I offer a warm, personal, and creative yet deep presence as I companion others.
I am a wife, mom to three awesome young men and one amazing daughter-in-law. I live in the beautiful state of Colorado. I sense a deeper connection with God in nature, so you’ll often find me hiking, biking, camping, bird watching, paddleboarding, and traveling. I especially look forward to the times my travels lead me to the beach. My sweet spot is collecting shells as I walk along the shore, smelling the salty air and hearing the waves. When I look out upon the vast sea before me, I am continually reminded that Christ is the Anchor for my soul, both in the calm and stormy seas of life.
I look forward to connecting with you personally!

Kara
Tobey
My name is Kara Tobey. I’ve worked as a chaplain in hospices and hospitals for several years, and I offer Christian spiritual direction. I spent two years working on the mission field in Mozambique, East Africa and have served in my church in various roles.
I discovered spiritual direction in 2014, and I am indebted to my directors for their wisdom and patience as they have walked alongside me and nurtured my growing faith. It is an honor to offer this gift to others.
As a spiritual director, my role is to listen to your story and be present with you as we pay attention to how God is moving in your life and the world around you. I will not give advice or answers, but I will sit with you in the questions and unknowns as we seek God together. I especially love walking with people in seasons of discernment, doubt or deconstruction. I offer a calm presence, a non-judgemental attitude, and a desire to see you grow in the love and knowledge of Christ.
My training includes a Master of Divinity (Duke Divinity School) and certificates in spiritual direction (Denver Seminary) and spiritual formation (The Renovaré Institute). I am currently receiving training in the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises.
I meet with directees on Zoom, over the phone, or in person in Lakewood, CO. I charge $50 for one-hour sessions. If you have further questions or would like to schedule a free consultation, please contact me at [email protected].

Brenda
Wright
Brenda began exploring Spiritual Direction through meeting with children and witnessing the depth and sweetness of the ways they are met and led by the Spirit. This experience drew her into receiving spiritual direction herself and eventually into formal training as a spiritual director. Through Spiritual Direction and the contemplative practices of Spiritual Formation, Brenda discovered a rich and expansive place of encounter with the Trinity-love’s family-opening depths of communion that had previously felt elusive. She is deeply passionate about holding space for others to meet the loving God who is always pursuing us.
Brenda has lived most of her life in Colorado, with several formative years spent abroad in Africa and Latin America. Her work has consistently woven together education, entrepreneurship, and ministry with both adults and children. Her more recent endeavors have included working as a professional gardener, remodeler, Airbnb host, and serving as Children’s Ministry Director.
She is a wife and the mother of two delightful young adults in their early twenties. Brenda most often feels close to God in beautiful and sacred places, especially in nature, which she finds deeply grounding and restorative.
Spiritual Direction is a relational practice that creates a safe, tender space where a Spiritual Director listens and companions a person who desires a deeper relationship with God, who longs to meet, guide, and transform us through a loving and attentive presence.
You are welcome exactly as you are. Wherever you find yourself on your journey, we sit together in curiosity–listening for who God is (and is not), and noticing how you may be invited more richly into life with God.
